Terms & Conditions
The terms under which Tawan Craft provides watch repair and restoration services — written to be read, not just filed away.
Last reviewed: May 2025
1. Introduction
These terms govern the relationship between Tawan Craft ("we", "us") and any person ("you", "the client") who asks us to inspect, service, repair, or restore a watch. By leaving a watch with us or confirming a service instruction by any means — in person, by phone, or by email — you accept these terms.
2. Enquiries and Assessments
Enquiries through our website or by phone do not constitute a service agreement. A service agreement begins when we receive your watch and you have approved a written assessment or quotation covering the scope and cost of the work.
Initial assessments are provided without obligation. If you choose not to proceed after receiving an assessment, we will return your watch at no charge, provided it has not yet been disassembled as part of the assessment process. In cases where disassembly is necessary to assess a piece, we will inform you of this beforehand.
3. Quotations and Pricing
All quotations are presented in Thai Baht (฿) and are valid for thirty days from the date of issue. Prices listed on our website are starting prices for the service described and do not account for parts, complications, or additional work that may be identified once a watch is examined.
Should any assessment reveal a need for work beyond the original quotation, we will contact you with a revised estimate and will not proceed with additional work without your approval. You are always free to decline and collect your watch at that point.
4. Turnaround Times
The estimated completion times we give are working estimates rather than fixed deadlines. Watch servicing and restoration are unhurried crafts, and we will not compromise the quality of work to meet an arbitrary date.
We will contact you if a job is likely to take notably longer than estimated and will always be available to discuss progress. If a timeframe is important to you, please let us know at the outset and we will advise honestly whether it is achievable.
5. Parts and Materials
Where original parts are no longer available, we will discuss suitable alternatives with you before ordering. We use only appropriate-grade lubricants and materials, and we record which parts are fitted as part of our service documentation.
For collectible and restored watches, we aim to source period-correct or original manufacturer parts wherever possible. Where this is not feasible, we will present options and let you decide.
6. Collection and Uncollected Watches
We will contact you when your watch is ready. We ask that watches are collected within sixty days of completion. Where collection is not possible within that period, please let us know and we will make suitable arrangements.
Watches that remain uncollected after ninety days without prior arrangement, and where we have been unable to make contact with the owner, may be subject to a storage fee at our discretion.
7. Liability
We take every care with watches in our custody. In the event of loss or damage attributable to our negligence, our liability is limited to the reasonable cost of repair or replacement of the affected component.
We are not liable for pre-existing faults that become apparent during servicing and which we could not have caused. We will document the condition of your watch on receipt to provide a clear record of its state before work begins.
We strongly recommend that valuable watches are covered by your own personal property or household insurance while in transit to and from our workshop.
8. Service on Older and Collectible Pieces
Working on older watches carries inherent risks, including the possibility that aged components may become more fragile once a movement is accessed. We will discuss these considerations with you before undertaking any work on a sensitive piece. Our assessment and written service plan, agreed before work begins, will note any known risks.
9. Governing Law
These terms are governed by the laws of Thailand. Any dispute arising from a service engagement shall be addressed first through direct discussion between the parties, in keeping with our commitment to open and respectful communication.
